Hand or Press ShankModel 80 with Hand Shank

The Model 80 differs from the Model 70 by offering a one wheel quick-change feature. The quick-change feature enables the operator to quickly change the last character in the character sequence.

  • 1 Wheel Quick-Change of the last character
  • Ideal for low volume consecutive numbering

Operation

The unit wheel is easily changed by rotating the knurled knob on the right hand side of the frame. The unit wheel is indexed for direct sight reading, thus simplifying selection of the correct character. The other wheels are changed by using the convenient spanner wrench. The tens wheel only needs changing every ten numbers (with the spanner wrench) and the hundreds wheel is changed every one hundred numbers, etc. Spanner Wrench

Construction & Parts

The innovative design of the machine guarantees consistently uniform character alignment and depth of impression. Multiple wheels are held precisely in position by retaining pawls and retaining pals springs. A retaining pawl seats in the index plate on each of the one piece wheels. The wheels are meticulously engraved for accuracy, strength and alignment. Crafted from high grade tool steel, they are precision heat treated for severe usage and long life.

Unlike less rugged designs of some other manufacturers, we optimize our frame designs to be compatible with the number of wheels desired by increasing the frame and leg widths. All 1/8" machines have two knobs, whereas 5/32" and larger machines have one knob and are constructed using larger diameter wheels, wheel shafts and frames.

Hand shank frames are constructed of heat-treated high-grade alloy steel to resist chipping. The hand shank is vinyl coated to absorb shock during the marking operation when the shank is struck with a hammer blow.

Compatibility

The Model 83P can be adapted to virtually any press. Our standard shank is 1" diameter x 1-1/4" or 2" long. We offer a standard dovetail shank to fit Numberall's hand or power presses or Model 116 Dovetail Adaptor.

We can make custom round or rectangular shanks. We can omit the shank and provide tapped mounting holes or install a custom designed adapter. Or we can leave the top flat so the customer can drill and tap or mount an adapter. Please request a factory quote.

By using shanks outlined in the Price List, the Model 83P can be easily adapted to the Model 98 and Model 47 Platforms.
